Needles, the Forgotten Christmas Tree is Richard K. Wagner’s first published book. It is a children’s Christmas story that he thought about writing for almost fifty years that is based on a past real life experience. Published in 2022, it is currently available through Mascot Kids, a subsidiary of Mascot Books and Amplify Publishing Group.
Mr. Wagner has enjoyed a 40+ year career in the commercial real estate development industry in Southern California, developing, constructing, leasing and managing office, retail, industrial and multi-family products. Having worked for such firms as The Irvine Company, Business Properties Development, and PacTel Properties, from 1990 onwards he owned and managed his own real estate development firm developing, building and renovating retail, industrial and multi-family projects, acquiring and building over 300 cellular, paging and multi-use antenna sites, and providing feasibility analysis and acquisition services for retailers and developers looking to locate along the Mexican border and throughout Mexico.
Mr. Wagner has a BA in International Relations and MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the men’s NCAA Division 1 two-time national championship swim team, and a member of the Kappa Sigma National Fraternity. In addition, he studied economics abroad at the University of Cambridge, England.
Mr. Wagner has been involved in various extracurricular activities, including serving as Chairman of the World Affairs Council of Orange County, involvement in the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers, and serving on various boards and planning commissions. He also spent many years coaching sports for his children including AYSO Soccer, Little League, and i9 Flag Football. Mr. Wagner lives in Southern California with his wife and children and enjoys sailing and travel.
